Title: Branson in January and February
Post by: Okiebenz on January 10, 2019, 05:57:32 PM
With SDC closed in January and February, is there anything to do in Branson if a person was in the area?  Any shows going on during the off season?

Yes to all of those that they mentioned.  Also:
Hughes Brothers start doing shows again the first week in Feb on Tuesdays and Thurs- Saturdays.
SIX starts up first week in March, so a little after you're looking for.

Bigfoot, Titanic, Hollywood Wax Museum, Promised Land Zoo, Ripley's, and the tower at Shepherd of the Hills are all open as well.  Supposedly the tiger sanctuary is, but I've never been there.

The magician Reza is also supposed to start up again in Branson Feb 15.

Now I've just got to find a weekend to get the family together and go check out the Escape Code and Axe Game.  I.  Will.  Make.  It.  Happen.  :-)

Legends in Concert is off in January but starts back up sometime in February.

I believe they start back up on February 9 if I remember what the sign said. Tribute theater will also start running shows again about the same time. Billy Bob's, Godfathers, Fall Creek Restaurant, and Uptown Cafe all close or operate under reduced hours until February usually as well.

I enjoy this time down here. It makes for a nice prolonged recovery after the insanity that is tourist season.

Agreed. This is when I like to get out and visit some of the attractions that I haven't done in a few years. Local discounts and area appreciation are wonderful deals.

So how do we fill out the form on your website to get the discount if we are on "here" but do not live local?

Oops. I forgot the form asked questions about living or working in Branson. You can use this code when checking out instead: UNLOCKED

That will save you $5 each at Escape Code.

To save $5 each at The Axe Game, use code BULLSEYE

That's the same as the local discount.

There’s a glitch with the PM system.  You have to check a box if you want a receipt of what you sent.  It’s weird.

I was in the area today for work so I decided to take a little detour and cruise the strip.  It was a ghost town, but even at that, still got stuck behind somebody going about 20mpg.  I dont know why people suddenly forget how to drive once they get out there.  I ate lunch at the Grand Country and there were about 2 other people in there with me.

I don't know what's worse, sitting in traffic when a thousand people are creeping along 76 or when the road is WIDE OPEN and someone is going 20mph, like you said. Brutal!

That happens to me quite frequently this time of year, getting stuck behind someone going slow on the strip. I've had it happen multiple times going home from work at 10 or 11 at night even. Drives me crazy

I was only in town for less than an hour, long enough to pull into Grand Country and eat my lunch alone then cruise up and down the strip.  It was interesting to see what restaurants were open and which were closed.  One thing that surprised me was there appeared to be quite a few cars at the Titanic.  Lot was not packed but certainly more than I expected.  By contrast there were no cars at the wax museum.  Not even sure if it was open or not.  While I was in the GC, I heard one of the workers talking to somebody saying that they had shows going in there all year long while other shows are shut down this time of the year.  I thought about driving out to the City and cruising thru but figured all I would see was an empty parking lot, so I didn't.  I put in quite a few miles yesterday driving from Nowata, OK up to Springfield, down to Harrison with the quick stop in Branson, then back up to Springfield, then to Bixby OK (south of Tulsa) then back to Nowata (1 hour north of Tulsa)  560 miles total.

Thats right.  GC (grand country) shows do run all year,
Altough do they take a well deserved week off in Jan, and Aug.
Other than that it is shows and business as usual every day, 7 days a week, 3 or 4 shows every day

Grand Country is sold out tonight.  It's also Area Appreciation.  Are they usually sold out? Titanic is closed today for a private event.  Fritz' Adventure has packed parking lots.  I needed to hit two stores today, and they are both closed and posting winter hours. Both of them have limited Sat. hours and closed on Sundays.  You'd think they'd be open weekends and closed during the week.

How many here remember when 76 was the only road, and those bumper stickers on the front of local cars that said, "I'M A BRANSON NATIVE AND I'LL HELP YOU TURN LEFT!"

And they would stop so that you could.
