Title: Starlite Theatre - No more
Post by: sanddunerider on December 12, 2018, 09:33:15 AM
I dont know if this has been mentioned yet.  But another project going on in Branson, is The Starlite theatre is closed for good..  most of their shows transfered to The Americana.

The word on the street is They are going to put a  National Inquirer Museum in its place..

I dont know if they are going to rebuild existing structure or demo and rebuild, But they did start interior demo in the Atrium area this week.

Its  too Bad I always like that theatre, altough the Atrium had to very costly to maintain and didnt earn a single dollar, all wasted space..

Have to admit, that one caught me by surprise.  We really liked that theater.  The atrium was a really neat atmosphere- and they did have the restaurants and eating available in it all day long.  Ate there a couple of times.  That's really to bad.
Are all of the acts going to Americana?  Any ideas about Buckets and Boards?  That's such a step down in the quality of the theater.

I think Buckets is going to appear at The Andy Williams theatre,,,  or whatever its called now....

The other 2 Mainliners - Country Vault, Janice Martin, will be at The Americana.

Hard to tell if The Prophecy or Rock Vault will be back next year at all or not..

Demo has started at Starlite, and apparantly they are gutting the restaurant, and office space above there.. clearing it all out,  BUT keeping the Atrium area intact.. probably for displays..   (IF it is a museum),,

Unfortunately this is true. It just reinforces some peoples perception of Branson and the people who visit. I LMAO at the news. I cannot imagine what would be in there to see. No thank you.

What is a "flying theater"?  Is that a standard name for a particular type of attraction?

I agree.. I just SMH at this project..

I Liked the Starlite theatre, hate to see it changed and done away with. There are other theatre/buildigs in town that would have worked..  but as we have said before....
Location......Location...... Location..

I just hope they done run out of money doing 2 of these at the same time.  That would be par for Branson, tear up something on the main drag, and run out of money... :(

Interesting... like the idea of a flying theatre, hate National Enquirer...

Starlite looked like a cool place. Out of all the theaters in Branson, it's surprising that the bigger and better ones seem to have the most trouble.

That's what I had in mind.  I wonder what kind of stuff we're going to fly over...

Hillary's Secret Alien Baby?

Well that just rolled my stomach and turned it sour.  Yuck on so many levels.

It certainly won't be on my list of places I'll want to see.

While I am not going to board the smut train to the Trashville, I can halfway see a place for this attraction. If done correctly,  it could potentially be borderline tasteful. I mean, there are some exhibits that I don't care to see at Ripleys. Am I going to get bent out of shape? No. I just don't go. I hope it does well and draws in the masses?? It's not for me and my family.

Of the "museums" that Branson has/will have, the only one that is of particular interest to me is Wonderworks; I've watched many walk-throughs of various Ripleys and Wonderworks locations, and I am really excited that Branson is getting a Wonderworks! Not at all interested in Ripleys (although their aquariums are pretty cool) and definitely not National Enquirer.

Im surprised to hear you say that..  I like the Titanic, But since it basically doesnt change once every couple of years or so is plenty to visit..

I also very much like the Harry Foster Museum at the college, but there again, once every couple of years is fine..

Oh, I didn't even think about the Titanic... I should've maybe used a different word for what I was talking about. I view Ripleys, Wonderworks, and the NE "museums" as a different category than, say, Titanic or other places... Just not sure what word to use for them. Maybe "Interactive Eclectic Collections"? lol I dunno.

But, no, I actually do wanna check out the Titanic museum, and the Ralph Foster Museum, and the Toy Museum, and definitely the Harold Bell Wright museum. I just wasn't too clear on how I categorize the various places.

I have never been in the toy museum, or that car museum.  Are they worth going to?

Which car musuem?  I have been told the new one (new from tornado) is around 25 to get in,.

Not sure about the one at Dick Clarks..

I stopped at the toy museum once, I thought it was very pricey and decided not to go.. dont rememebr the price. but it scared me off..  BUT if you like that kind of stuff ALOT, I have heard it is very nice with lots of displays., So it might be worth the money to you..

One of the YouTubers I follow did the Celebrity Car Museum (which is the one at Dick Clark's theater) a couple weeks ago... It looked interesting, but not really my thing; I'm just not much of a car person. But I think people who like cars, especially if they also like movies/TV, would find it rather fun.

Petit Jean is $10, but it's out of the way unless you're coming up from Arkansas.

The only car museum I can think of is the one across from stampede.  Unless the toy museum was cheap, I would probably not be interested.

On another note, has anybody been to that free Johnny Cash show that us up next to the Hampton I believe?

The one across the street is in Dick Clarks Basement,
there is another one about 1/4 east on the north side, NEW building Cars and Tractor Museum.. all new because tornado damaged the original building

No havent been to Johnny cash..

It's Jackson Cash......been in Branson for years.....used to perform at the little stage that used to be in the building attached to the small Walmart on the strip.....he worked for tips there and where he is now Don't  think he'll ever be more than he is now after all these years in Branson.
