Time to start the new thread for 2018.
The 2018 rate will remain at 40.00 per night plus tax, as it has been in the past.
With the Exceptions of Thanskgiving week/weekend, (Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat) when our rate will be 50.00 per night plus tax.. And of course Car Show Weekend.
Also K.D. wanted me to post her cell phone number, so if she is not onsite, or there are any questions you may contact her that way..

As most of you already know, we as members of SDCFans, get a Very nice discounted room rate at Classic Motor Inn. They are located on Shepherd Of The Hills Expressway, typically about a 10 minute drive from SDC. Our nightly rate is only 40 + tax, with 3 exceptions.
#1 Special Rate for Thanksgiving Week/Weekend. 50.00 + tax per night
#2 There are no discounted rooms during Car Show Weekend (2nd week in August).
#3 During the off season Jan1 - mid march the rate is 35.00 + tax.
If you are a new member and have any questions about Classic, please post them here. Several of us stay here off and on all year around, last year "we" (members), stayed over 400 nights at this motel.
Classic is locally owned, the owners live on site as well as the Manager. That way they can take care of any "needs" you may have immediately.
Imenities:
most rooms have pillow top mattress,
some rooms have flat screen TV
Wi-Fi to all rooms
Fridge in all rooms,
Microwave in all rooms,
Coffee Pots are available upon request,
They do have pet rooms, and welcome them
Cont. Breakfast. including, Biscuits and Gravey, French Toast, Donuts, Toast, Waffles, Cereal, Milk, Juice, Fruit Cocktail. Now keep in mind, this is not a Buffet from Golden Corral.. But it is a good way to start your day, and is included with your room.
Ice machine for your room on premises,
Nice outdoor swimming pool,
Lots of parking available, and room for small trailers out back.
Every night they make Fresh Popcorn and Chocolate Chip Cookies for customers
Overall this is a great deal for all of us, and as I stated earlier several of us stay here throughout the year, and have stayed here for at least 3 years, some of us up to 5 years or more..
Give K.D. a call. She will appreciate it, and they will all take care of you. ****One thing when making your reservations, make sure you tell them you are a member of SDCFans. 1 tip.. If your a coffee drinker. make sure you tell them when you check in, they will give you the pot and the coffee fixings!! Or call ahead, and they will put it in the room for you..

1st of all with the 4th on wed.. I would guess about any day of the week, sunday and after would be ok to go..

2nd - Lots of fireworks in town, The Landing, Chateua, Rockaway Beach.... BUT be aware that this is the 4th annual Team Haygood/Grand Country Wild Bunch Fireworks display at Classic Motor Inn. I will start setting up tuesday evening, in the rear parking lot. I will start about 10.. usually last 1 1/2 - 2 hours.. I put on what I think is a very good show, lots of big stuff going boom, lots of mortars, Bottle rockets, Roman Candles and some smaller stuff too.. IF you have little kids that want to shoot their stuff, thats ok too. We always have a few kids joining in.. We are leading members of these 2 groups fan clubs and do it for them, their families, friends and the hotel guests.. Although they havent started helping fund the display, we have a real "Blast". Feel free to bring your chairs, drinks and join in, come down and say hi..... (donations accepted, LOL)

MAN!!! 1 mortar tube falls over!! and they remember it FOREVER!!!!!! LOL!
I have since changed that part, I mount ALL mortar tubes to a piece of plywood which in turn is mounted to a table.!! "Safety First"... ::)

We were in town Sunday and Monday and stayed at Classic Sunday night. We learned the place has been sold and they were in the process of selling off/removing everything from the lobby area. Not sure who the new owners are and wondered if we will still get our rate. Anybody heard anything?

I just got back from a quick 2 day run with my mother.
Was her Birthday and she wanted to see the Haygoods. SO? What do you do when your 80 year old mother wants to see THe Haygoods? You go to Branson to see 1 show , then drive home the next day.!!! ;D

Supposed to take over today (1st), that didnt happen, now scheduled for the 8th,, (something about SBA Loan)...
K.D. is supposed to stay on as manager...
Our "contract" on SDCFans rates for 2018, I expect them to honor. They may or may not,
I will be back on the 10 of August and maybe then I can meat an owner/manager or whatever, see whats going there..
I already met with another Motel owner/manager (locally owned and managed) that I know real well and laid the seeds for a New Motel Base. She was very happy and excited at the chance to work with us. Her motel has about 80 rooms, where Classic has about 60. Also has ties with a couple of other motels, so If they happen to be sold out they can place us at a different location, But with reduced rate.
I told her we would ride out Classic first, Give them the opportunity to retain our business if they want to.
So for now we will see what may or may not change...
IF problems start, please let me know, I will give you contact name and number and she will find you a room, either at her motel one of the others she is affiliated with. with a pricing discount available immediatley.. may not be 40 + tax, but will be close. This was offered to me in the "Just in case" scenario..
Keep your heads up!! When you check in, Make sure you Talk To KD if you can, Identify yourself as SDCFans member, May need to remind the new Management we have contract Price for the year..
Lets see what happens.... ;D

Talked to KD today,
the buy went through on Wed. as expected the old owners were packed and as soon as they had verification of funds.....They headed to Florida.
KD tells me she is learning new CC machine, and They installed a New Software program for the motel.. Good thing, since they are teaching her the new system, sounds like they will be keeping KD on payroll..
At this point we are not expecting any problems with us retaining our discount rate. I must empasize that when checking in you make sure you identify yourself as SDCFans members., AND you will probably have to tell/remind them of our 40.00 rate.
The new owners dont know us yet, And will only be able to know who we are after multiple visits.
Cheese- KD said no problem, Looking forward to seeing you again.
Again, we expect not problems/changes.. For the time being..

We were there 8/9 for a one night stay. Breakfast is now just served in the lobby, downstairs breakfast room is closed. Car in lobby is gone. Rate was honored. Atmosphere seems different.

The Lunch room downstairs is typically closed during the week, because of low traffic count... IF the motel is full it would be open... It is "almost" always open on the weekends.... This weekend it was open on sat and sunday as usual.
I did get to meet one of the co-owners today, KD introduced me and and we basiclally covered our "arrangment with him.... LOL,
A lot of info for the poor guy,
They are still getting their feet on the ground,
AND I am pretty sure he was having trouble understanding English... (if you catch my meaning)..
I will be back Labor Day weekend and will try to talk to him again..
I am not getting real positive vibes from the owners yet, KD is very nervous and apprehensive, as I said I am trying to remain positive..
I did try to meet with the other motel owner, but her daughter was having a baby this weekend, so I will call her Monday for more details.. And then meet with her Labor day weekend again..

My made the call, so I don't know, but the person acknowledged our record of staying there and quoted us $45 ($40 for the room, $5 for the 20 yr old boy, $0 for the 17 yr old--kid rate).
We'll be arriving sometime Sunday afternoon or early evening--not making rigid plans yet.

Report?, Yes. It;s not good..
I was there 3 days, never saw the owners, their vehicle was gone all day, but showed up in the evening..
K.D. Has been at work everyday open to close since the new owners took over, 4 weeks ago this Wed.
NO days off, NO time off, NO lunch breaks. The new guys are using her up! I am not sure how long she will last!! This whole situation really frustrates me. !!! we brought her in 3 meals this weekend, just so I knkkew she was eating. Obviously she was most appreciative for fresh food.. ;D I do expect things there to change VERY soon :o
I have made temporary arrangememts which we can take advantage of as of SEPT 20,. If we have to us these guys for the winter, it will work fine.. they are open all winter. and we have worked out a discounted rate.. Details later..
I also have 2 different avenues going for a full time location, I will know more on that in the next couple of weeks..
I also talked to K.D., If she decides to relocate to another Motel, AND if they are willing to work with us, I told her we would consider going with her. That would give her a little more pull on her resume'. :)
For the time being, we will continue to support K.D.
If you do stay there, stop in and tell her hi, give her a friendly smile. She is literally on her own at the motel right now...
If your staying somewhere else in town, stop in and say hi.. bring her a small pizza, hamburger and fries, whatever. Guarantee the smile will make wirth your effort..

My parents went today. They were given a room. When they opened the door, it was still occupied!! Coolers, luggage, etc everywhere. It was around 3:00. That means 2 things...#1...the room wasn’t cleaned or they would have known. #2....they were lucky someone wasn’t actually in the room.

She is so overwhelmed. Last week 125 hours for her!! I can't even imagine... 6:30 am to 11pm or so.!! >:( >:(.
I will make a call tomorrow and see if we can get the TEMP motel deal rolling before the 20th.. That way if we try to stay at Classic and there is a problem, we have a back-up plan..

We were there Sunday night/Monday morning. KD actually teared up when speaking of how things had gone for her. But she didn't say anything about the hours or the inability to get food. Glad you stepped up for that!
One guest really raked her over the coals Monday AM because there was no coffee pot in his room. She offered to give him one and explain why it was not there, but he was uninterested, and blew her off. We made a point of thanking her for her help and for her efforts.
What a wretched situation: too bad the previous owners changed their plans on her.

Keep in mind, With this New Location whether it is Temp or turns out to be permanent, there will a learning curve to deal with.

There company is tied in directly with Hall of Fame Motel on 76, they of course are associated with motels all over town. I have talked to her extensivley, she is aware of our (and K.D's) situation..
Inititially, our rate at Hall of Fame will be 45.00 per night. This is an all inclusive price, includes taxes, and is only a few cents more than Classic.
You will need to call Michelle at 417-332-2121 to make reservations..
Very important to call ahead,
IF by chance the Hall of Fame is sold out (they cater to alot of busses and groups), Michelle will find us another room at a sister Motel, and that rate will be 50.00 per night.
Hall Of Fame will start serving breakfast on Sat, Sept 22. through out the duration of the winter months.
I still have a couple of other proposals going on, but this will get us started on a new path. Be patient, Call Michelle, 417-332-2121, Identify your self from this group. She is a busy lady, and will need to be reminded initially.
Lets see.... Yes, they have limited Pet Rooms, Yes nice Breakfast starting on the 22nd, NO POOL (but too cold for that now anyway), plenty of parking, ground floor rooms, nice big rooms, WIFI, And of course they sell show tickets too, so that might help you save some money too..!!

Yes, I was told they would honor our rate for now... She is doing really well at taking care of us, BUT bottom line is, she can only do so much..
I am more worried about the "service" factor after K.D. leaves. (when she leaves).
I should be there on the 22, maybe see you before your guys head home..

It is one thing to work 125 hours a week if you own a business. But 125 hours a week breaks the law whether you are hourly or salaried. Sounds like the US Department of Labor, wage and hour division should be notified.

She has received a few job offers already, and many local concerned phone calls. She has a lot of local support already, and I would think after she gets the keys to her new home. It will just be a matter of her choosing "When and Where"... ;)

I dont know, i told her throw the keys on the desk and walk out. She tells me she has a feeling of loyalty to her clientle and doesnt want to leave them.. I explained to her, and she realizes it already, she is losing customers already because of new ownership... I suggested she make a customer list and move on....
For the time being I am hanging in at Classic for K.D.. I deal only with here, she will take care of us as always.. I was there for 3 days this last weekend, and except for parking lot, NEVER saw the owners. (thats ok for me).
IF you dont feel comfy, staying at classic, by all means call Michele at 417-322-2121, several people already have. She has agreed to help us out as a group or individually this winter until we make other arrangemenst elsewhere.. If I had my way, we would stay the all through the year, But becasue of contract with housing, the HAll of Fame cant take care of us during the "season" (april15-sept15). Again make sure you identify yourself as SDCfan member, and tell her any special room requiremsnts you may need... Example- Someone called last week needed double queens beds in a handicap room with walk in shower... Hall of Fame does not have that, But michelle was able to find a room elsewhere.
I have met with another motel on the SOTH, they have agreed to match our Classic deal. They are open all year, Have a better parking area, smaller pool, easy access to street and so on. I have met both the asst mgr, the general man, and #3 manager, All 3 nice people, speak and understand fluent English ;).
I did a walk through the rooms, all nice motel rooms.. they have single king, single queen, double queens.. All rooms have small table and sit down comfy chair, all are carpeted, all have flat screen TV, ...the single rooms all have either a big easy chair and foot stool, or a love seat/couch for lounging.
The breakfast is a minimal thing, a lot like classic, but they do have fresh HOT biscuits and Gravy, also boiled eggs. And a lady their to assist you in what you or your kids may need.. Nice touch I thought.
I like this motel overall and am sure it will fit most of our needs.
Couple of things they DONT have.. No pet rooms, No walk in showers in the Handicap rooms.

K.D. indicated to me she would like us to go with her to her new location.. I of course old her we would love to depending on location and few other details. I am hanging with her for now. IF she finds a another place soon, I would like to think that by bringing our group with her, as well as her customer list, it would put her in a better positions for salary negotiation and management title... After all with our group.. and her customers, you could be easily talking about 50-60,000 dollars in revenue per year, If not more..
IF Moving with K.D. doent work out, we will move on since I have all the ground work laid already..

The job market is so hot right now, especially in Branson. I don't get the loyalty to a place that's apparently not treating her right. Keep nudging her along.

All rooms are the same price, single King, double queen, Handicap.. The "problem" at Classic has always been they only have 4 "King" rooms, usually there is a recliner in the room along with table and 2 chairs, Last week I also did NOT have a recliner. In the past if the recliner was missing , call K.D., and they would bring 1 to you.. I dont know about know,, ::)
Like wise as I make new arrangements,
ALL the rooms will be the same price.. Single King, Single Queen, Double Queen..

I got ya, I just always assumed king rooms must be more expensive for some reason. Now I know!

Our trip was last minute -- we called Tuesday and arrived Wednesday. The king was available for 2 nights which is what we needed. There was a large group of golfers there mid-week. I think they had 16 rooms.
Didn't ask about the move. We offered a meal Wednesday night but she had already eaten.

Just an update...
KD is still at classic, says she will make her move after the season is over.. (1st of the year? maybe.)
I am still hanging tough at classic through the end of the year, with KD.
But I am planning on pulling the trigger on new location starting in January. see details from my previous post back in October..
The biggest problem I can see with new location is NO pet rooms for the time being. I do know this directly affects 3 or 4 of our members. I am hoping to maybe have that ammended. I do plan on meeting with management again, next week when i am in town. I would like to think if the "demand" requests pet rooms, they might add them??. dont know, NO guarantees,,
IF KD would make a decision on where she is going, That would help us make our decision too, but waiting for right now..

she is directly tied in with Hall of Fame Motel. She is taking care of us for now until we make transisition to new location.. She is matching our room rate of 40.00.
Hall of Fame motel is on 76, northside of road, across from the wax museum, about 1/2 blosk east of Starlite theatre..
If she isnt there, 1 of the other gals can make your reservation for you..

We stayed at the Classic Sunday night after spending the afternoon and evening at the City. We had called ahead and asked KD if she needed anything, but she said she did not. We took her a selection of Christmas cookies, anyway ;) She had already placed extra linen in the room for us--that's great service!

We were there also, LOL, tried to feed her a couple of time this weekend, she just kept saying No thank you,I am fine.

I was glad to hear the owners are leaving town for a month, and KD told us she was going to a try to find something else while they were gone.! YAY!! She need a serious break!..

We stayed at Classic on Wednesday March 6th and KD said Friday, March 8th was her last day at Classic. She now has a job at the Hughes Brothers Music show.

Well.
On the way down last Friday (3/15), my wife called to confirm our reservation. Surprise: it didn't exist. Blame placed on KD.
SDC fans special rate? What's that? Is that the AARP?
*sigh*
My wife was able to secure a room--they were NOT busy and at a rate not too much higher than the previous one, but I can make NO promises to anyone else at any other time. I get the distinct impression that our rate will be based entirely on projected rooms available.
And, if you had a reservation made prior to 3/8, I strongly suggest that you give them a call before arriving so that you can negotiate some kind of room.
