Title: What items at SDC do you feel are important to your visit?
Post by: Swoosh on June 21, 2015, 06:17:28 PM: Just conducting a hypothetical survey of the attachment of certain items in the park to SDCfans.
Please note there is no news out that says any of these will be removed - I'm just curious on the attachment of certain things at the park to our members.

Post by: joshblakebran on June 22, 2015, 09:30:51 PM: I give kiddie rides a 5 because I know how much my boys and nephews enjoyed it when they were younger whom were the focus of our trip to SDC in the first place. I love American Plunge but I would like to see it updated/revamped a bit. I love Hill Street and the Cork Screw. It adds to the character of the park. When I think how much fun we have had on flooded mine there is just no way I could ever stand to see it go. When they have the shows, I love all the theaters and in all honesty I enjoy the shows as much if not more than the rides (especially the Homestead Pickers). If I picked the one thing I most remember from my visits as a kid there is no question that it is the Saloon Show. I gave the treehouse a 4 just simply for the iconic purposes, however, I should've rated Grandfather's Mansion higher for the same reason and we have also had much fun in it. Anyway, sorry for the dialogue as I'm sure this was not the intent of the thread but what a creative thread at that. Thanks for the topic Swoosh and I look forward to seeing everybody's responses.

I know, I grew up with the Treehouse too and loved it but if they can't reopen it they should tear it down and put something in it's place. Interesting this was posted in Construction/Rumors instead of General SDC topics- hmmm? ???

Post by: Tmboote on June 24, 2015, 10:11:11 PM: I feel like removing any of these things (other than TNT) wouldn't free up enough space for something else better. Unless they would remove multiple buildings/rides and then we could potentially have a place for a new dark ride.....

I also find it weird how random the things on this list seem. You have rides, theaters, shops, and walkways instead of just asking about how we feel about the theaters or the rides or the shops.

3. Dockside Theater 4 (I don't want to see any theater venues leave.)

5. Riverfront Playhouse 4 (Bring back comedy plays. It is a playhouse after all.)
6. Echo Hollow 5 (nice big venue)
7. Flooded Mine 5 (Classic - Iconic, but could be tweaked)

9. Treehouse 3 (I like that it's still standing and yet a hidden treasure.)

Ribhouse - 2 (I only like it for sitting in the back room and watching Lost River while eating)

Treehouse - 1 (Since its closed, its taking up space. i wish it was opened)
Midtown Shopping Area - 3 (love the bakery, peek holes, etc.)

Carousel Barn - 1 (empty most of the time. its like a place people can rent to sell stuff in)
ThuNderaTion - 4 (my first coaster. i grew up on this, but it is too short)

Storytime Theater in Half Dollar Holler - 2 (because its something in HDH)
Corkscrew Pass - 5 (Love this road and the water bucket tower)
Hill Street - 3 (Hate having to climb up the hill, but even if people dont like it, there is no way they will take it out. its a road to get to Opera House and everything else)

Frisco Barn - 2 (i do like to look thru it every festival, but its just another thing people can rent out like Carousel Barn)

I have always thought Echo Hollow should go. Probably one of the most underused place in the park. Combine that space with the space currently occupied by TNT and you could have a whopper of a coaster.

I would bet that if they compared cost to use ratio over the year Echo would be a big loser. Last time I went to a nighttime show in the middle of the summer there weren't 200 people there and half them left at intermission.

I personally enjoy the shows as much as the rides and look forward to going to Echo Hollow each evening.

I looked around and really saw mostly older patrons there. Isn't that getting to be too late for them? If you are going to leave it, at least have a more entertaining show during the day, make it worthwhile having instead of just using it for an 1 1/2hr a night.

Too late for older patrons??? I don't consider myself an older patron, but I'm probably getting close enough. Older patrons don't go to bed at 8:00. My parents and in-laws go to bed about midnight which always drove me crazy when they came to visit. By the time an Echo Hollow show is starting, I think families would want to get tired, cranky kids something to eat and a place to wind down before bedtime. I never took my kids to the night show - they were ready to leave the park before tired, hungry, cranky, and whiny set in whether they realized it or not.
