National Harvest Festival

Event Date: September 11th, 2008 through October 25th, 2008

Over 100 visiting craftsmen and over 400 of the nation's finest musicians are coming back to the city once more for this year's National Harvest Festival - and to top it all off, the ever-popular stage production Headin' West is back again for a second season. This 45-minute live musical production, created by Silver Dollar City itself, tells the timeless tale of American westward expansion during the 1860s and has been hailed as SDC's best new show in years.

The National Harvest Festival also marks the opening of SDC's Culinary and Crafts School, which offers a large array of cooking courses as well as a showcase of some of SDC's best craftsmanship.

For the September portion of the festival, SDC will host it's Salute to the Great American Cowboy. The Nine-time Grammy winning band Asleep at the Wheel will play at the city on September 20, and other big name attractions like Roy Rogers, Jr. Gunsmoke star and western watercolorist, Buck Taylor and friends will be in town. There will also be Native American Hoop Dancing, Wild West Arena Shows and more.

October will bring the new Salute to the All-American Farmer. Country singer and nine-time Farm Aid performer John Conlee will be in concert October 11, and there will be award-winning exhibits from the Missouri Farm Bureau, hands-on lessons and advice from the Southwest Dairy Association, and a chance to explore a vintage John Deere tractor display, among other things.
